Bio

Jade grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she continue to work, live, and play. To her, it's one of the greatest places in the United States to live.

She is a freelance photographer who has travelled a great many places around the U.S and parts of Europe.

She has worked with different venues of photography, ranging from architecture work, to nature and macro work, wedding photography, portrait sessions (with models and individuals), as well as sports. She is happiest when she is behind the lens taking photographs.

A competitive athlete, Jade has been a ranked national fencer in the U.S. with National (Olympic) Squad standing. She also rounds out life with a wide array of other interests, including scuba diving, hiking/backing/camping, writing, and travelling.

In addition to these activities, she finds a way to express herself not only through photography, but blends her love of art with her love of photography into photo illustration. She combines the use of traditional photography with the technology of digital artwork.

On this website, there are three portfolios: photography, artwork (photo illustration), and costumes. Jade enjoys all equally on different levels.
As she says, "There is not enough time in the day to do everything at once!"
The following are some of her thoughts on these subject.

On Photography
"I developed a fascination with photography from her aunt (who was an intrepid traveller and always had a camera with her). I started taking photography classes in my first two years of college. ... when digital photography was introduced, I knew it was time to start putting away film and to move with the new age of photography."

On Photo Illustration
"Photography is my medium. And Photoshop, Expressions, and other illustration software have really opened up the artistic side and allowed me to explore other possibilities. Whereas many artists see in terms of color and shape, I tend to see light, shadow, pattern, and how these things can interplay. Photography is one of the only art forms that teaches you to see differently, and without the camera."

On Costuming
"My grandmother was the one who taught me how to sew, but I never really became enamored of costuming until (again) college....I discovered that I actually had a good time creating costumes, and from there it just flourished."
