Katrinn Eisman is probably one of my favorite Photoshop authors. Her writing style is easy to read, but you must have *some* working knowledge of Photoshop in order to follow along with her books. She doesn't give cookie-cutter recipes, but explains the tools in a way that you can apply them to many different projects.
